Ms. Gretchko concentrates her practice in creditors' rights and commercial litigation.
has represented nearly every constituency in bankruptcy courts around the
country, including secured creditors, unsecured creditors' committees,
landlords, licensors of intellectual property, customers, suppliers, business
debtors and trustees, and has litigated many of the issues that arise in the
context of bankruptcy law. Ms. Gretchko has written and lectured extensively
for various organizations on various bankruptcy and creditors' rights issues. She
also has experience in real estate litigation.
She received a B.A., with honors, from the University of Michigan in 1976 and was a
member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She received her J.D., cum laude,
from the University of Detroit, where she was awarded the National Order of the
Barrister and elected to the Justice Frank Murphy Honor Society. In addition,
Ms. Gretchko was an associate editor of the University of Detroit's Journal
of Urban Law. From 2001-2003, she taught Bankruptcy and Creditors'
Rights as an adjunct professor at Wayne State University Law School.
Gretchko is the Vice President-Publications of the American Bankruptcy
Institute, a member of its Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and Chair
of its Publications Committee. She is a former Executive Editor of its monthly
publication, The American Bankruptcy Institute Journal, and a
former co-chair of its Unsecured Trade Creditors Committee (2014
Committee Person of the Year). She was formerly a member of the
Business Law Advisory Board for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, a council
member and secretary of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of
Michigan, a co-chair of the Oakland County Bar Association Federal Courts and
Bankruptcy Committee, and a member of the Advisory Committee of the U.S.
Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Ms. Gretchko has been designated
a Michigan Super Lawyer every
year since 2006 (Top 100 Michigan Lawyers – 2012-2014; Top 50 Michigan
Women Lawyers–2008-2014 & 2018; and Top 25 Michigan Women Business Lawyers–2013 &
2014), and has been recognized in “The Best Lawyers in America” every year since
2012. In 2011, Michigan Lawyers Weekly recognized her as a Women in the Law honoree.
