Timothy M. Wittebort
|
Mr. Wittebort concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial lending, creditors' rights, various real estate transactions, and corporate mergers and acquisitions. He received his B.S. from Western Michigan University in 1985 and his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School in 1988, where he was an Assistant Editor of the Wayne Law Review.
Mr. Wittebort has broad experience in various types of financing, including both asset based and real estate credit facilities. He represents a number of lenders with respect to loan origination, creditors' rights and various types of loan workouts. Mr. Wittebort also represents real property owners, privately held companies, publicly held companies, and municipalities in various facets of acquisition, disposition and leasing of both real and personal property. Mr. Wittebort has extensive experience in advising real estate developers regarding residential and business condominiums, retail and mixed use projects, including land use, planning, retail leasing, development issues and various governmental incentives. He also has particular experience in representing both downtown development authorities and developers in downtown redevelopment projects involving tax increment financing and Brownfield incentives.
Mr. Wittebort represents a number of manufacturers, including automotive suppliers, and is familiar with various organizational and structural issues including supply agreements, Terms & Conditions and various applicable UCC issues.
In 2008, Mr. Wittebort was appointed by Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm to be a member of the Financial Review Team formed to oversee and assist the City of Pontiac, Michigan with its financial deficit problems and has often been requested to advise on similar issues for governmental entities.
Mr. Wittebort is a frequent author and lecturer on a variety of business and professional topics including downtown redevelopment and real estate and asset-based financing, including tax increment financing and other public incentive programs. He was named to Michigan Super Lawyers® in 2008, 2009 and 2010, as well as the May/June 2009 issue of Super Lawyers - Corporate Counsel Edition for real estate. Mr. Wittebort was also recognized in DBusines - Top Lawyers in Metro Detroit for 2010. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Oakland County Bar Association.
Mr. Wittebort is active in multiple community and charitable organizations including the Pontiac Neighborhood Revitalization Corporation and the Oakland County Mainstreet Advisory Committee.
