Mr. LaPrairie specializes in intellectual property law with an emphasis on obtaining and enforcing patents and trademarks for clients. He also counsels clients on global strategies for management of their intellectual property portfolio.

Mr. LaPrairie is admitted to the State Bar of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. LaPrairie is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, cum laude, from Wayne State University in 1994 and a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School in December 1999, where he was a member of the Wayne Law Review and a recipient of the Bronze Key Award for academic achievement. While with the Wayne Law Review, Mr. LaPrairie's note was awarded publication.

During his undergraduate education, Mr. LaPrairie worked as a co-op engineer with Monsanto Chemical Company, where his focus was process control and manufacturing engineering. Mr. LaPrairie also worked during this time period for Gage Products Company, a global supplier of paint solvents, test fuels and paint-system recycling technology for the automotive industry.

From 1994 to 1998, he was a senior engineer with E.I. du Pont de Nemours (DuPont) Company. As an engineer with DuPont, Mr. LaPrairie was responsible for the design and support of automotive coating products for the Honda Marysville Assembly Plant. Additionally, Mr. LaPrairie gained thorough experience with coating application processes including rotary and air-atomized spray equipment.

Mr. LaPrairie has prepared and prosecuted patent applications covering a wide variety of mechanical, electromechanical and chemically-oriented technologies. Mr. LaPrairie has also prepared and negotiated licenses on behalf of clients as licensors and licensees.
