Mr. Long works extensively in municipal, health care and employment law matters, and has represented physicians and medical practices, hospitals and other tax-exempt entities, municipalities and insurance carriers for twenty years.  He is also a certified arbitrator for the American Health Lawyers Association Dispute Resolution Service. Mr. Long's work for cities has included contract and ordinance development, telecommunication franchises, real estate development and brownfield redevelopment, labor and employment, tax appeals and criminal prosecutions.  His work in the health care area includes professional service agreements, medical reimbursement and compliance programs with federal fraud and abuse, and self referral programs.

Mr. Long served as a Staff Assistant to the Judiciary Committee of the United States Senate in Washington, D.C.; Chief of Staff for the Majority Leader of the Michigan Senate; and currently serves as corporate counsel to the city of Trenton, Michigan and SET-SEG, the liability self insurance fund for public schools. 

A member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys and the Employment and Public Sector Law Sections of the Michigan and American Bar Associations, Mr. Long is admitted to practice before the Michigan Supreme Court, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.  He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan in 1971, attended graduate classes at Wayne State University and received a Juris Doctor from the Detroit College of Law in 1982.  He is based in the firm's Bloomfield Hill's office.
