Mr. Chalmers concentrates his practice in business, finance and in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisition, divestitures, leasing, real estate financing, commercial and industrial development.  He was a founder, former director and general counsel for Portage Commerce Bank. He is a past President of the Board of Directors of Hospital Hospitality House of Kalamazoo, Inc.  Mr. Chalmers served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bronson Health Foundation from 1995-2003.

Mr. Chalmers earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics, with honors, from Michigan State University in 1969 and his Juris Doctor, with honors, from the Detroit College of Law in 1975.  He received the American Jurisprudence Book Award for Estates and Future Interests in 1974 and the Michigan Consolidated Gas Company Scholarship Award for "Excellence in the Study of Law" in 1975.  Mr. Chalmers is a member of the Kalamazoo County Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan and its sections on Real Estate, Corporation, Finance and Business Law.
