Mr. Amburn concentrates his practice on intellectual property protection and litigation.  He prepares and prosecutes patent and trademark applications, drafts intellectual property opinions and agreements, and counsels clients in obtaining and enforcing intellectual property rights.  He works on a wide variety of technologies including mechanical, software, and business methods. 

Mr. Amburn has over fourteen years of litigation experience including first chair jury trial, mediation, arbitration, and facilitation experience.  He also has appellate experience having appeared before the Michigan State Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  Mr. Amburn has represented clients in cases involving patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyrights, contracts, and related issues.  Representative reported cases include Bliss Clearing Niagara, Inc. v. Midwest Brake Bond Co. 270 F.Supp.2d 943 (W.D. Mich. 2003) and Bliss Clearing Niagara, Inc. v. Midwest Brake Bond Co. 339 F.Supp.2d 944 (W.D. Mich. 2004).

Mr. Amburn is admitted to practice in state and federal courts of Michigan , the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and before United States District Courts in several states.  He is also admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  Mr. Amburn is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association and American Bar Association. 

Mr. Amburn earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Michigan State University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.  During law school he was a finalist in moot court competition and participated in the ABA National Client Counseling Competition.  He also represented indigent clients in the law school's Urban Law Clinic.
