Mr. Chekan practices civil and criminal litigation throughout the United States and Canada .  He is both a licensed attorney and an Ontario barrister.  He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Michigan and Illinois, the courts of the Province of Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada .  He has been admitted pro hac vice in the federal and state courts of Ohio and the federal courts of California .

Mr. Chekan represents individuals and businesses before mediators and arbitrators, state, federal, and provincial trial and appellate courts, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada.

Mr. Chekan has been designated preferred Canadian Counsel for U.S. multi-national companies.  He has acted as counsel for the Federal Government of Canada in U.S. Federal Court proceedings. 

Mr. Chekan represents Tier 1 and 2 automotive suppliers and automotive aftermarket suppliers throughout the United States and Canada .            

Mr. Chekan received an A.B., cum laude, from the University of Michigan , Ann Arbor in 1988 and his LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario in 1992.  He received his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law's Canadian Lawyer Program in 1993 and an LL.M. from Indiana University , Bloomington in 1996.

Mr. Chekan is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Marine Corps. 

Mr. Chekan is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
