![]() Mr. Gemrich has significant experience in the areas of construction, real estate, business and commercial law, estate planning and complex litigation. He graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1960, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, magna cum laude and Phi Betta Kappa. He received his Juris Doctor from Yale Law School in 1963 and a Master of Arts, with honors, from Western Michigan University in 1976. Mr. Gemrich has handled numerous matters before various tribunals, including state and federal courts in Michigan and Indiana, appellate courts, real property tax tribunals in Michigan and Illinois, NASD, AAA (including AAA's Complex Dispute Resolution section) and an arbitration tribunal in Zurich, Switzerland. He has achieved multi-million dollar settlements and judgments in federal court cases and other tribunals and has handled the acquisition and sale of multi-million dollar businesses. Mr. Gemrich has a done a variety of real estate work, from acquisition and sale of property, to commercial leasing in various states as well as the drafting of conservation easements for a 500-acre parcel on Beaver Island and elsewhere. Mr. Gemrich is admitted to practice in Michigan and Indiana, the United States District Courts for the Western District of Michigan and the Southern District of Indiana, the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Claims. He is a member of the State Bars of Michigan and Indiana and the American Bar Association. He has served as a representative to the assembly for the State Bar of Michigan and as an officer and director of Kalamazoo County Bar Association. He has served as a bank director and director of various private companies. Mr. Gemrich is a former Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Kalamazoo College and currently serves as a Trustee Emeritus of Kalamazoo College. He serves as a Trustee of the Parks Foundation of Kalamazoo County and the Miller-Davis Foundation, and as director of the Barry Conservation District and the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy. He has also served as an arbitrator for AAA and is a former instructor of law at Western Michigan University.
